Cheshire West and Chester Council has welcomed findings from the Children’s Commissioner for England’s The Childhood Lottery report.
The council says the borough is ranked sixth among the least challenging places in England to grow up in the analysis. Its Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Adam Langan, said the findings reflect contributions from schools, health services, community organisations and families as well as the council.
What the report measures
The Commissioner’s project examines differences in children’s needs and experiences across England, including education, housing, health, poverty and community safety.
The Commissioner cautions that the data draws on different boundaries, including health and policing areas, and does not tell every child’s story. It is not a comparison of councils’ performance.
The council says outcomes still differ between children and that it will continue work with partners to address inequalities.
